Welcome
If you have come across this site thinking that Bonefishing is available in the UK, we wish it were, but it isn't. Even if it was, it wouldn't be quite the same would it?
This site was developed to allow a group to share their pictures after a trip to St. Joseph's in the Seychelles in February 2005 - you can view these in the Photo Gallery (there are now also some videos in there (be careful, they are huge!).
There were 7 of us, 2 bonefish novices, 2 bonefish light weights, 2 bonefish medium weights and 1 serious bonefish heavy weight (no names mentioned Jim) as our guide. We lived aboad the M.V. Illusions catamaran and were looked after by Des, Chris and Geetu. The whole trip was arranged by Jim from World Wide Fishing Safaris - thanks to them all.
We learned a great deal about a lot more than how to spot and catch bonefish, for example:
- "sporting goods" allowances on Air France
- monkeys' foreheads
- how to date Air Seychelles' aircraft
- how to catch midges
- what we took and didn't need
- how to take a dump whilst hanging off a bridge
- what we didn't take but needed
- just how good fresh fish can be
- how to excuse yourself overboard for a dump when in a speedboat
- which tackle was best for what
- that Rex can be heard even when you may not be able to see him on the flats
- how to acidentally become human rubby dubby
- that sport fishing can be almost as good as the fly (but not quite)
- that it isn't wise to knee an ex-south african policeman when it is his boat and you can't see land
We may add to this in time, when we have time but we may not as we are now busy planning the next one...
